Floating Lidar Blog

On Sunday 10th July 2022 the floating lidar for the White Cross project was successfully deployed in the Celtic Sea.  This marks a major milestone for the innovative floating White Cross project.

The unit was assembled in Padstow harbour prior to the tow to site. The floating lidar deployment is for 12 months and it will provide accurate wind, wave and current measurements that will inform design and engineering going forward. It will also be used to validate existing environmental data and provide increased certainty to support the wider project development.

This contract was awarded to Akrocean following a competitive tendering process, and together with our partner Wood, the team has worked hard over the past few months to make this happen.
