White Cross offshore windfarm has numerous benefits to the local community, the regional economy and addressing the wider UK energy shortage.
Benefits for North Devon
Boosting the economy
White Cross is dedicated to, where possible, using local suppliers throughout the project. We estimate a peak of over 300 jobs will be created in the wider South West region
Community benefits
We are committed to delivering a community benefits scheme in line with UK Government guidance and, since the early stages, our team have actively sought feedback from the community on how community benefit should be delivered alongside the project.
Appreciation of local nature
As part of our development, we are committed to introducing a minimum of 10% bio-diversity net gain across the construction area. This means more animals, habitats and flora across Saunton Sands and East Yelland.
Delivering Net ZERO
The UK has made commitments to a 78% reduction in carbon emissions by 2035 and to Net Zero (reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 100% relative to 1990 levels) by 2050.
To achieve this target offshore wind has a vital role to play and in recognition of this key role the UK Government has a target of delivering 43 to 50GW of energy from offshore wind by 2030.
White Cross will contribute towards the UK reaching all of these goals by providing up to 100MW of renewable energy, enough to power 135,000 households.
Delivering Net ZERO

To achieve this target offshore wind has a vital role to play and in recognition of this key role the UK Government has a target of delivering 50GW of energy from offshore wind by 2030, with 5GW to be from floating projects.
The climate emergency must be dealt with. The White Cross project has the potential to contribute to the Net Zero targets and to play a role in decarbonisation of the UK economy.
White Cross is deliverable now and it is essential if the UK is to be successful in delivering Net Zero.
